Season Three is upon us, CineDump, and with it comes more of the uncannily uncouth, the vitriolically violent, and the disturbingly dreamlike. Awesome Show continues its satirical takedown of capitalism, using Season Three, Episode One “Resurrection,” to exuberantly mock commercials and infomercials. The main saga of Tim’s return from death is devoid of all mystery or spiritual significance--instead, it is reduced to the amount of “hundos” Tim and Eric can earn through their production of Tiny Tigers.

We’ve reached the end of Season Two, and like the end of Season One, there will be laughter and a whole lot of tears. In Season Two, Episode Ten, “Embarrassed,” Awesome Show reaches the apotheosis of its themes of competition and wicked fathers. From the nonsensical, joyous “Tumblers Better than Pumpers” song, to the rivalry that forms this episode’s main saga, competition forms the narrative core of this episode

Awesome Show continues its exploration of family with Season Two, Episode Nine, “Pepperoni.” Throughout seasons one and two, Awesome Show returns again and again to the idea of family. While dads and dad-adjacent imagery have been fully explored, Season Two focuses more closely on motherhood.

I want to apologize to Joe Grisaffi, the mastermind behind this film and many others. Years ago, Joe was kind enough to hook me up with a copy of this film for review, and to be honest, I completely forgot about it. It wasn’t until I was scrolling through Amazon that I was reminded of my personal copy.

Season Two, Episode Eight is a loving tribute to all of Cinco’s tacky glory. A companion piece to the much darker Season Cinco episode “Greene Machine,” “Innernette” combines everything we love about the Cinco Corporation: pointlessness, inelegance, and greed. Capitalism, like Fatherhood, has long been a staple of Awesome Show’s irreverent humor.

Remember when MTV was nothing but music videos? Seems so long ago, right? Remember when you’d sit and wait to record each and every music video you thought was cool?

With Season Two, Episode Seven, “Robin,” Tim and Eric lovingly lampoon Robin Williams years before his tragic death. Along with a truly silly Cinco product and Richard Dunn in his strangest role yet, “Robin” is one of Awesome Show’s sweeter entries. Season Two is full of break-neck emotional turns: compassionate to creepy, nihilistic to sentimental, often within the same sketch.

I’m a sucker for films that take place in one location. The critically acclaimed Cube comes to mind, but it doesn’t get any better than the wide and open world of the ocean. I mean, when you really think about it, the ocean is a lot like space.

Circus of the Dead is one of those films that has eluded me for years. I’ve seen it available at cons and I’ve heard it mentioned online, it’s just one of those movies that I never jumped on. I’ve wanted to see it, but for one reason or another, I’d always pass right by Billy Pon’s booth.

Awesome Show Season Two, Episode Six continues the story of Carol and Mr. Henderson, we get a visit from auteur Glen Tennis, and Cinco introduces a new line of sweets to appeal to all types of children--including boys and athletes! Season 1, Episode Five “Chunky,” first introduced the sadistic relationship between Carol and Mr. Henderson. The theme of this previous episode was the instability of reality, and this idea was explored through both the Carol and Mr. Henderson segments as well as the “Spider Web Attack”.

Midway through Season Two, we will be exposed to some of Awesome Show’s most gruesome sights as well as hitherto unexplored depths of tenderness. Marrying the grotesque, the sentimental, and the downright delightfully weird, Episode Five, “Forest,” is like a hike through the woods--dangerous, sometimes uncomfortable, but ultimately, rewarding. Parenthood, as it has been pictured in Awesome Show, is usually explored through the lens of fatherhood.

Building on the madness of “Dolls,” Season Two, Episode Four’s “Coma” amps up the alienation, torment, and existential dread. With a little help from some unscrupulous products, Tim and Eric have to confront greater peril than ever before. Consumerism has long been a fascination with Awesome Show, and nowhere is it more apparent than in this episode
