Udo Kier - The Blazing World, Hunters, Downsizing (2021) #video

Udo Kier is one of those artists that have such a large and diverse resume that it’s daunting even beginning to decide what to talk about. I can remember walking up to his merch booth, and here’s Udo grinning ear to ear with a collection of images showered around him. It reminded me of those proud parents watching their children play at the park.

Mathew Klickstein - Comic-Con Begins, Mysterious Skin, On Your Marc (2021)

SiriusXM’s new podcast series, Comic-Con Begins: Origin Stories of the San Diego Comic-Con and the Rise of Modern Fandom, promises to be the final word on the history of a beloved pop-culture juggernaut. Stephen’s resume includes some heavy hitters, films that are pretty much staples of Blu-ray collection throughout the world.

I can remember a time when my Facebook movie groups were flooded with conversations revolving around the film Pontypool. I, like many others, jumped in, and it has been a long time since I’ve been that impressed with a blind dive. While the “pool” wasn’t necessarily too deep, it was insanely clever and because of which, Bruce McDonald will forever remain a stapled to my radar.

If you, like I am, are a collector of physical media and a lover of horror and cult films, you likely have an ever-growing collection of Blu-rays and books on the subjects. Many of these films come with a number of bonus features, from alternate endings to original trailers, and commentaries. Some commentaries are by people involved in the film, directors, actors, producers, while others are done by the people who study these films, who can easily tell you just about any trivia you want to know on a particular film or actor or director, and who offer a critical and engaging voice to guide you through a different type of viewing experience.
