For those that don’t know I worked in a video store when I was younger, and while I would jump between stations, I’d always find a way to recommend films that were unlike the big movies that occupied the most shelf space. One of those films was Session 9, and I never had a disappointed customer! For me, Session 9 is one of those films where people talk about lightning in a bottle, this is what they are referring to.

Like it or not, horror seems to be going mainstream! More horror films are in theaters, and smaller-budget horror films are finally getting noticed by bigger audiences. Why are people finally giving scary movies a chance?

Before we got married, my wife made me watch X-Files from start to finish to make sure I was worthy. Now she has me working my way through another favorite, Criminal Minds. While I didn’t realize it until recently, Tony Todd makes memorable appearances in both of these shows.

Growing up there were a few go-to movies at our house. One was Star Wars and the other was The Road Warrior. It ultimately depended on Dad as to who I’d fear that night, Darth Vader or a mohawked, leather-clad biker.

This one is a long time coming as I've been watching Josh for years. As an emerging talent from College Humor or a familiar face on Dorkly, he was hard not to adore. I’ve watched numerous interviews, and he's always come across as a decent enough guy, which made me that much more curious as to how he was able to get inside the mind of Bruce, his character in Travis Stevens' A Wounded Fawn.

I was lucky enough to catch Shinzô Katayama’s Missing while covering Fantastic Fest. It’s a layered story, jam-packed with so many twists and turns, M. Night Shyamalan would fall over. I’m not exaggerating either, my wife and I still discuss this one daily.
