At just 15, Mila Harris is already proving she can hold her own opposite Hollywood veterans like Justin Long and Kate Bosworth, and do it with poise well beyond her years. In Coyotes, the new horror comedy from director Colin Minihan, Harris stars as Chloe Stewart, a sharp, artistic teenager trapped with her parents in their Hollywood Hills home as a pack of bloodthirsty coyotes closes in.
“I was actually really excited when I first read the script,” Harris said. “I was picturing it in my mind as I read it, and it just felt like it was going to be a fun one. Once we started filming, we were bouncing ideas off each other and doing a lot of improv. It really made the movie special.”
Filmed on location in Bogotá, Colombia, Coyotes was an unexpected challenge, not only for its high-altitude conditions but for its unconventional creature work. Harris recalled having to act opposite puppets and CGI stand-ins for the titular predators: “It was kind of weird to react to these puppets and actually be scared of them,” she laughed. “So in my mind, I just pictured that’s a real coyote and it’s coming for me.”
Despite the chaos on screen, the young actress found the heart of the story in its family dynamic. “At first, I was nervous to work with Justin and Kate. They’re legends! But they were so genuine and down to earth. We created a real connection, and that’s what brought so much light into Coyotes,” she said.
Beyond the scares, Harris was drawn to Chloe’s emotional depth. “She’s a tough teen, but she’s also very emotional. There’s this moment where she thinks the whole thing is her fault. That really resonated with me,” she explained. “I wanted to show that she’s layered, not just rebellious.”
While Harris admits she’s always loved horror, she appreciates that Coyotes offers something for everyone. “I really like scary movies and Halloween is my favorite time of year,” she said. “You could say it’s a funny movie or a horror movie, but really, it’s about family and hope. I just hope people have fun with it and feel connected.”
Between her roles in Mary opposite Anthony Hopkins and Brad Anderson’s World Breaker, Harris is steadily building a résumé that spans genres and continents. She’s also remarkably composed for her age, thoughtful, articulate, and clearly passionate about her craft.
Coyotes hit theaters on October 3, 2025, and is available on VOD starting October 21, 2025. With this release, it’s clear Mila Harris isn’t just a rising star. She’s a professional already shaping her own path.
