Preview: Big Mouth Season 8 — A Hilariously Honest Farewell to Puberty’s Wild Ride

Season 8 of Big Mouth premieres May 23, 2025, only on Netflix.

Netflix’s acclaimed and unapologetically honest adult animated comedy Big Mouth will return for its eighth and final season on May 23, 2025. The ten-episode sendoff promises to take viewers on one last wild, hilarious, and heartfelt ride through the ups and downs of adolescence as the teens of Bridgeton face their most daunting transition yet: growing up.

Created by Nick Kroll, Andrew Goldberg, Jennifer Flackett, and Mark Levin, Big Mouth has become a cultural phenomenon by breaking taboos and opening dialogue around puberty, mental health, and sex education—often with the help of hormone monsters, shame wizards, and other unforgettable characters. Season 8 will continue this legacy while introducing new topics such as enthusiastic consent, cancel culture, driving, pornography, and the looming fear of the future.

At the center of the season is the theme of friendship—a constant source of strength for the characters as they navigate their evolving identities. Nick experiences a long-awaited growth spurt; Andrew confronts premature balding; Missy joins public school and wrestles with new insecurities; Jessi questions her relationship and mental health; and Matthew explores intimacy and self-acceptance. The show also introduces a new creature: Compassion, voiced by Academy Award-winner Holly Hunter, who emerges to guide the teens when everything threatens to spiral.

The beloved ensemble cast returns for the final season, including Nick Kroll, John Mulaney, Jessi Klein, Jason Mantzoukas, Ayo Edebiri, Maya Rudolph, Fred Armisen, Andrew Rannells, and Jordan Peele. They’re joined by an impressive slate of guest stars, such as Cynthia Erivo, Steve Buscemi, Kristen Wiig, Quinta Brunson, Nathan Fillion, Ali Wong, David Thewlis, Keke Palmer, Thandiwe Newton, Natasha Lyonne, Billy Porter, and many more.

Highlights from the season include:

  • A musical journey inside the teenage body in “Why Do We Go Through Puberty?”

  • A hilariously candid sex-ed Q&A special with real fan-submitted questions in “Everything We Forgot to Tell You About Sex”

  • A mysterious face-off with the long-rumored “Ponytail Killer”

  • And a poetic, visually striking finale set in “The Great Unknown,” where the characters confront the uncertainty of the future together.

Executive produced by creators Nick Kroll, Andrew Goldberg, Jennifer Flackett, and Mark Levin, Big Mouth closes out its run as one of Netflix’s longest-running scripted series.
